Skills Development

developHer is a one-week summer mobile app development for ages 10-18, which promotes technical skill development and self-empowerment.

According to the U.S. Census, African Americans made up only 7 percent of those employed in information technology in 2016, a sector that includes computer scientists, software developers, programmers, and other tech workers.

Introducing teens to technology can be an empowering experience! It broadens their future employment options and instills confidence that leads to better grades and a more positive outlook on life.

developHer helps those who are at risk for violence:

  1. Learn basic coding skills

  2. Choose and plan a mobile app project

  3. Test and launch their mobile app for Apple and Android devices

  4. Learn how to monetize their work

  5. Explore entrepreneurship
